All About CUSHION FOUNDATIONS (and the best for dry skin)

Let’s talk about Cushion Foundations. I was asked to compare a couple of specific cushion foundations so I decided to do a comparison of all the ones I have tried. I will be talking about them in order of preference from least to most favorite.

Before we start, I want to ask you what cushion foundation you think made it to the #1 spot. I would love to read your guesses. As you think about your guess, I will answer this basic question: What is a cushion foundation?

Essentially, it’s a liquid foundation housed in a compact. They’re convenient because they’re easy to carry and use, and you avoid makeup spills. You can apply with a sponge, a brush, even your finger. So definitely very convenient. Their coverage and texture is lighter than the usual foundations. So it’s ideal for light makeup lovers like myself. It’s a beauty gift from Korea where they originated.

You might be concerned with hygiene and sanitation, and I understand your concern. Cushions usually contain more water so they’re more prone to bacteria and tend to have a shorter shelf life ( for example, 8 and 12 months). I’ve never had an issue with them and I don’t keep them past their shelf life.

So, are you ready? Alright! let’s start with the countdown:

7. Diorskin Forever Couture Perfect Cushion Foundation SPF 50, $50, 15g.

It’s described as a weightless formula that creates a lightweight veil of illumination, perfecting the skin’s texture with the benefits of its skincare ingredients. It promises to last 16 hours of staying power, ensuring that the color won’t change or fade throughout the day.

The packaging is beautiful and I was very excited to try but of the seven it’s my least favorite. I’m going to declutter it soon.

6. DIOR Capture Dreamskin Cushion Foundation SPF 50, $82, 15g (shopping link here)

Dior reinvented its iconic cushion compact with an updated formula that provides increased hydration. It features the correcting power of Dreamskin within a portable case to enhance and protect skin. Its luxurious texture perfectly fuses with the skin to unify in transparency and improve the appearance of redness, shine, and pores.

Throughout the day, this cushion foundation minimizes thd appearance of pores, redness and shine for naturally more beautiful skin in every circumstance. The complexion is fresh, matte and luminous. With each application, the skin and complexion are enhanced by its age-defying and protective SPF 50 PA+++ properties.

The one I have has no shade. At first it seems like it’s just a serum and not doing much for the skin. But as time passes by, my skin tone is more even, pores less visible, more skin perfecting. It’s #2 in my list from least to most favorite not because I don’t like it but simply because I like the rest more.

5. La Mer Luminous Lifting Cushion Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20, $140, 11 shades (shopping link here).

COMPARISON OF THE LA MER & CHANTECAILLE CUSHION FOUNDATIONS

One of the ones with most coverage in this list. With patented Miracle Broth and color capsule technology, the skin gets a lift of luminosity and a fresh, plump look snd a plumper, tightened feel. Includes a refill and an additional sponge applicator.

4. EM Cosmetics Daydream Cushion Foundation SPF 50, $48, 12g (shopping link here)

My newest cushion foundation. This one is described as a serum-infused foundation SPF. Buildable formula that provides a hint of color to enhance skin tone & diffuse imperfections. Ingredients such as Niacinamide, Snow Mushroom Extract, Green Papaya Fruit Extract, Green Tea Extract, Rice Water, & Goji Berry Extract enrich the formula, help hydrate, and refine skin’s texture.

It’s so light and airy. I had to come back to it a few times because it’s coverage is quite light. But it feels really nice on the skin. Very refreshing.

3. Burberry Ultimate Glow Cushion, $58, 6 shades, 15g (shopping link here).

Described as “a blend of skincare and make-up for a multidimensional, youthful glow – day or night”. A powerful blend of active skincare ingredients including hyaluronic acid and viola extracts, plumps and smooths your skin, for a visibly youthful complexion and ultimate radiance.

It also contains antioxidant-rich white tea extracts that protects your skin from environmental damage and enriched with light-reflecting pearls to create a lit-from-within finish. Its lightweight and smoothing, and unifies the complexion while giving a second-skin feel.

2. Chantecaille Future Skin Cushion Skincare Foundation, $130, 12g (shopping link here)

Described as “a fresh, water-based foundation formula with smoothing and anti-pollution skincare ingredients that blur imperfections and leave skin looking flawless”.

It’s lightweight and instantly perfecting. What makes this formula so unique is its flexibility. One shade has the versatility to work with multiple skin tones. My skin is healthier and smoother with every use.

The compact is refillable. Every cushion foundation feeds an orphan baby elephant rescued by the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust

1. Sisley-Paris Phyto-Blanc Cushion Foundation, $133, 14g (shopping link here)

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF THIS AMAZING CUSHION FOUNDATION

It’s my favorite cushion foundation and probably my overall favorite foundation. It immediately offers optimal correction of the complexion and creates a perfect skin effect, ensuring a radiant result with a glowing finish. You can build it up to the level of coverage you prefer. Its adjustable coverage makes it possible to hide imperfections and blend the skin’s texture.

Day after day, the cushion infuses the skin with moisture (with ingredients such as wheat sugar derivative, pro-vitamin B5 and phytosqualane), and boosts the natural radiance of the complexion (with patented phyto-blanc bomplex, hibiscus flower extract). Its anti-pollution, anti-fine particle, and anti-free radical formula protects the skin from environmental damage.

Fresh and delicately scented. Humidity, sweat, rub and heat resistant. I can vouch for this because the product did not budge in the South Florida hot and humid weather, even under a face mask. It has been specially designed to allow reapplying during the day, without cakiness. Long lasting formula.

Immediately, more perfect looking skin. Skin is moisturized and smoothed, the complexion is fresh and uniform, imperfections are less visible. With repeated use, your complexion is brighter and more luminous, and protected against daily pollutants.

In my personal experience, it’s the most long lasting of the cushion foundations I’ve used and even more than regular foundations. It has light coverage but it makes my skin so beautiful and fresh and natural looking. It’s sweat and mask proof. Just amazing!!! It’s the most expensive on the list but worth every single penny.

I currently have two backups. I just love it! The only negative thing I can comment is that it comes in very little amount of shades.
